چکیده

Mobile active computational entities introduce peculiar problems in the coordination of distributed application components. The paper surveys several coordination models for mobile agent applications and outlines the advantages of uncoupled coordination models based on reactive blackboards. On this base, the paper presents the design and the implementation of the MARS system, a coordination tool for Java-based mobile agents. MARS defines Linda-like tuple spaces that can be programmed to react with specific actions to the accesses made by mobile agents.

Design and Implementation of a Programmable Coordination Architecture for Mobile Agents

The paper describes the design and the Java implementation of a coordination architecture for mobile agents, based on an object-oriented Linda-like tuple space model, compliant with the Sun's JavaSpaces specifications. Moreover, unlike Linda and JavaSpaces, the proposed architecture integrates a reactive model: the behaviour of the tuple spaces can be programmed by installing reactions which ar...

MARS: A Programmable Coordination Architecture for Mobile Agents

Mobile agents represent a promising technology for the development of Internet applications. However, mobile computational entities introduce peculiar problems w.r.t. the coordination of the application components. The paper outlines the advantages of Linda-like coordination models, and shows how a programmable coordination model based on reactive tuple spaces can provide further desirable feat...

Auction-based Agent Negotiation via Programmable Reactive Tuple Spaces

Auctions are proposed as a distributed negotiation mean, particularly useful in multiagent systems where self-interested agents compete for resources. The Internet is the most known example of environment where agents belonging to different applications exploit the available resources and services. The aim of this paper is to show how auction mechanisms can be easily implemented by using progra...

Mobile Co-ordination: Providing Fault Tolerance in Tuple Space Based Co-ordination Languages

In this paper we describe the concept of mobile coordination , a general purpose approach to overcoming failure of agents when using distributed tuple spaces. We demonstrate why mobile coordination is better than using existing techniques such as transactions, how mobile coordination can provide extra functionality in the form of agent wills, and how the framework to provide this can be impleme...

TuCSoN: a Coordination Model for Mobile Information Agents

The increasing need to access and elaborate dynamic and heterogeneous information sources distributed over Internet calls for new models and paradigms for application design and development. The mobile agent paradigm promotes the design of applications where agents roam through Internet sites to locally access ad elaborate information and resources, possibly cooperating with each other. This pa...
